Matthew R. Chapman, a resident of Glen Carbon, was elected to serve his first term as a member of the Edwardsville Township Board of Trustees in April 2017, which will extend to 2021. In addition to his service on the Board of Trustees, Mr. Chapman is a supporter of Riverbend Head Start and the Jimmy V Foundation.  In his own words, Mr. Chapman says he ran for Township Trustee, “as a way to get more involved in my community and to continue the good stewardship of our parks, roads, and services.”

Mr. Chapman served in the Air National Guard 183rd Tactical Fighter Group – E4 from 1991 to 1997. Following his military service, he attended Saint Louis University School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctorate and began work as an attorney. Mr. Chapman is currently a partner at the law firm of Becker, Schroader & Chapman, P.C. where he specializes in personal injury and workers’ compensation cases.

Mr. Chapman is the father of two daughters, Laine thirteen (13) and Sophia ten (10), who he regards as his greatest accomplishment in life. In his spare time, Mr. Chapman enjoys traveling, playing golf, and paddleboarding. If he could meet anyone alive today he cites Jack Nicklaus and Bono as his two top choices because of his love of golf and U2. If he could meet any past figures his choices include John F. Kennedy and Winston Churchill, which stems from a fascination with them that grew from his studies in college.
