Charles “Skip” Schmidt is a resident of Edwardsville and longstanding member of the community. He was elected to the Edwardsville Township Board of Trustees in April of 2017 to serve his first term, which will extend to 2021. Mr. Schmidt is a former teacher and coach as well as patron of the arts, spending three (3) years with the Wildey Theatre and fundraising for the Edwardsville High School Drama Thespians.
Mr. Schmidt believes strongly in the importance of community service. He is a senior member of Edwardsville’s RASE (Recreation, Arts, and Special Events) committee board where he has served for the last ten (10) years. Mr. Schmidt also previously served on the board of Faith in Action, a volunteer-based organization that focuses on ensuring senior citizens have the tools to remain healthy and independent. In addition to these organizations, he is a thirteen (13) year member of the Edwardsville Rotary and active in the local American Legion.
Mr. Schmidt has been married to his wife, Cynthia for forty-three (43) years and he considers his marriage and family to be his greatest accomplishments. In his spare time, Mr. Schmidt enjoys making walking sticks, golfing, and trout fishing.
