Trustee Haroian

Janet Haroian was elected as an Edwardsville Township Trustee in 2021. She has been an Edwardsville resident since 1980, raised her family here and has been active in the community for over 40 years. Haroian was a city of Edwardsville alderman for 18 years, and served on various boards and commissions prior to her aldermanic term and has continued to do so after completing the 18 years on the city council representing citizens in her ward.

Haroian retired July 1, 2023, after 22 years of employment with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, most recently serving as the Director of Planning and Budgeting in the office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration. The first 15 of the 22 years, she was the operations manager for the business and technology park at SIUE.

Her interest in continuing community service is what led her to run for the office of Township Trustee representing the larger area covered by the township. Other interests and activities include: serving as a board member of HeartLands Conservancy, a regional water, soil and air conservation organization working to restore and/or preserve our area ecosystems; a 27 year member of the Edwardsville Rotary Club which supports local, state, national and international community service programs; and the Metro Milers Running & Walking Club, a local group of like minded running/walking enthusiasts.
